Just so you know, per capita income in Qatar is $103,500...

..as seen on this really cool link (hat tip, reader Jerry):

The data is compiled using the CIA World Factbook. Of course, not every citizen in Qatar is benefiting from that oil money.

Error correction: the article incorrectly stated that the unit measured was $US when it is $PPP.

  1. You claim to be an economist? You better go back to school. The per capita income in Qatar is far, far less than this. GDP is not per capita income, even Personal GDP. The highest number I have ever seen -- and I believe it was a miscalculation because it used a denominator that did not include all the residents and workers in Qatar -- put the number at a staggering $70,000. At least half the people in Qatar earn less than $20,000 a year. Do some homework.

  2. Like in the rest of the Arab world, Non-Citizens get a bowl of rice a day, if they are lucky.

Occasionally a bunch of jihaddi's cut the poor sods heads off too

Anyway - lots of detail here:

  3. Anonymous, You are wrong.

"The per capita income in Qatar is far, far less than this."

Not according to the IMF (unless you believe that they are not a credible source). The CIA World factbook is measured in $PPP (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/qa.html). In $US, the IMF states that 2008 per capita GDP, measured in $US, is $93,205.05 (link here http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/weo/2009/01/weodata/weoselgr.aspx).

And of course the people in Qatar do not actually "earn" that - its just an average.

how many people have had their heads cut off outside the context of the Iraq and Afghanistan war?

You're so smart, give me a number.
Then, compare that number to "collateral damage" figures conservatively calculated by Western government authorities.

This time you've just gone outright racist.
    Yes, your stereotyping stinks.

About Twenty in Saudi - while the security forces kept their distance, of course, so the terrorist had time for lunch: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/jun/06/saudiarabia.jasonburke

Google will dredge up endless pages of similar misery, should we care to see it, but we don't.

With regards to the "collateral damage" figures - well, first, nobody believes those and nobody really cares, its all based on lies anyway.

You simply cannot stop someone stupid from doing stupid things, especially when it is an elected government that is stupid.

This time you've just gone outright racist.

Thanks for the compliment - I like to make a negative first impression on people I'd rather like stay away.
